The most popular destination from La Spezia is the Cinque Terre. The charm of these former fishing villages and the stunning natural beauty of the Ligurian coast have turned the Cinque Terre into one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy.

▶︎ MOBILITY NOTE: the Cinque Terre presents some challenges to those with limited mobility, so we created an Easy Cinque Terre itinerary that will enable you to serenely enjoy the area in 6-7 hours.

Sadly, with popularity comes the unpleasantness of crowds, and in summer the Cinque Terre can be frustratingly packed with tourists. For small children and the elderly it can be a rather suffocating environment. Navigating with a stroller is just about impossible. Alternatively, Lucca & Pisa is a good choice for a kid-friendly day trip.

While La Spezia is frequently presented as the port for Florence quite frankly it is not so convenient, unless you don’t mind a journey of almost 2 hours each way. The travel times for our excursion to Florence & Pisa are about half of your touring day (4.5 hrs of driving). Because of all the kilometers and the extremely long day for our drivers, these day trips are also rather pricey. But if you have to go to Florence we understand, and we can make the day more efficient by pre-booking tickets to popular galleries and attractions, such as the Accademia, Uffizi and Leaning Tower of Pisa.
