This excursion gives you the chance to see a variety of places in the heart of Chianti.

A pleasant 45-minute drive from Florence will take you along the Chianti Wine Road, crossing through the picturesque, rolling hills. We’ll visit the villages of Badia a Passignano, Montefioralle, and Greve in Chianti before arriving at the winery of your choice.

Depending on which tasting option you choose we can also work in a second winery or other charming villages in Chianti. (This service can be customized in a number of ways; please write or call to discuss.)

Badia a Passignano, noted for its abbey built by Vallumbrosan monks in the 11th century, and Montefioralle, a Medieval borgo deemed “one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy” will transport you back in time to the Medieval.

Greve in Chianti, on the other hand, offers a Renaissance architectural esthetic, and in the main piazza with its lovely porticoes you will find an array of shops (including some noteworthy food shops) and boutiques. History buffs will note the monument to Giovanni da Verrazzano, the explorer of the Atlantic coast of North America who discovered, among other things, the Hudson River.

Your Chianti wine tasting can take place at one or two beautiful properties, each with a great human story behind it.

FATTORIA CASALOSTE (Monday thru Saturday, excluding holidays)

Simple Tasting

• Guided tasting of at least 3 wines, olive oil (when available), and grappa (no tour of the estate)
• Duration 30 minutes
• 15 Euro per person

Tour & Tasting

• Tour of the estate followed by a guided tasting that includes 4 wines (2 Chianti Classico, 2 IGT), olive oil (when available), and grappa
• Duration 50 minutes
