Chianti Winery Tour & Tasting

green rows of vines at sunrise in Chianti

Wine tasting in Chianti is a unique experience that will engage all your senses. Walk amongst the orderly vines and silvery olive groves, breathe the perfume of fermentation in the cellars, then taste the wine and you will understand why Chianti is so famous all over the world.

A NOTE ABOUT DRIVING TIMES
While Chianti is spectacular it should be noted that there is a fair bit of driving involved to get there and back (about 90 minutes going and 2 hours coming back).

For a wine experience with less driving we recommend the area around Terricciola (which we can combine with Volterra) or Montecarlo di Lucca (which we can combine with Lucca and Pisa).

SUMMARY

This excursion gives you the chance to see a variety of places in the heart of Chianti. After a pleasant 45-minute drive on the highway you will find yourself on the Chianti Wine Road, crossing through the picturesque, rolling hills. We’ll visit the quaint villages of Badia a Passignano, Montefioralle and Greve in Chianti before arriving at the winery of your choice. Depending on which tasting option you choose we can also work in a stop in Pisa or a simple tasting at a second winery. (This service can be customized in a number of ways; please write or call to discuss.)

DETAILS: CHIANTI WINERY TOUR & TASTING from Livorno

Badia a Passignano, noted for its abbey built by Vallumbrosan monks in the 11th century, and Montefioralle, a Medieval borgo deemed “one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy” will transport you back in time to the Medieval. Greve in Chianti, on the other hand, offers a Renaissance architectural esthetic, and in the main piazza with its lovely porticoes you will find an array of shops (including some noteworthy food shops) and boutiques. History buffs will note the monument to Giovanni da Verrazzano, the explorer of the Atlantic coast of North America who discovered, among other things, the Hudson River.

Your Chianti wine tasting can take place at one or two boutique wineries that offer exactly what you come to Tuscany for: Gorgeous panoramas of the countryside, rustic farmhouses built from local stone, and excellent quality wines. The wineries we recommend are Maurizio Brogioni and Fattoria Casaloste.

These wine tasting prices are valid if you pay in cash, and reflect 10% off the full rates that apply when paying by card or Paypal.
